ABOUT SOCALCROSS

The Southern California Prestige Series of Cyclocross was formed in 2006 by an association of cycling clubs eager to grow the sport and motivated to become the premier cyclocross race series in Southern California and nationwide!

The Prestige Series has reached many of its goals with a 300% growth in participation.  This season the series will host 16 races hosted by over 20 cycling clubs across the region. The Series has received national recognition by hosting the first ever UCI National-level cyclocross race and first ever West Coast Collegiate CX racing in Southern California.

The Prestige Series also provides education to newer racers starting with the Early Bird Cyclocross Ride and Happy Hour Clinics... a month-long series of clinics preceding the series from San Diego to San Luis Obispo. Each Prestige Series race also offers beginner clinics and demo bikes.

In 2008-09, the Series became more than a bike race with the introduction of Eco-Sportfest '08 solar powering every event in the series, hosting 5k cross-country runs and eco-fitness expos, live bands, beer gardens, costume contests and night racing, kids bike skills course and races in a super fun festival environment.

The bicycle-centric series provided an ideal platform to bring awareness to athletes and the local community about reducing our carbon footprint and promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Education at events and our innovative weekly GO GREEN RACER competition—scoring participants on their lifestyle, transportation choices like commuting to work and errands by bike, carpooling, recycling, and more—will only help our audience make the shift towards a greener lifestyle.

Our GO GREEN RACER points leaders are awarded the GREEN jersey, and our best scoring teams will be awarded trophies made from recycled bike parts!

In 2009-10 we will introduce the Best Young Rider weekly competition rewarding participating youth for their determination and support of healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercise and its long-term benefits.
