NOVEMBER CLASSICS CONTINUE! IMPORTANT UPDATES!!!

LETTER FROM ALEX AND LEAH - STORM THE BEACH

Dearest Celo Pacific and SoCalCross Friends,

November 1st, 2009, Storm the Beach, Red Beach, Oceanside, CA.

There are moments of inspiration and awe that need to be acknowledged.  Celo Pacific came together once again to put on a fun, challenging and memorable race course and spectacular event, not to mention the perfect weather, and a recipe for history made in accomplishing a 100th elite victory.

Another week and another race later, we find ourselves a bit delayed, however, hereby want to take the opportunity to thank and update our team on the support received for the clumsy pair that left the party early in a strobe light van for a road trip to St Joseph's Mission Trauma Hospital in Mission Viejo that Sunday afternoon.
Eager racer women's number 53, coming down the long hill on a black mtn bike, wishing to surf over the soft sand, fishtailed losing control, and instead, augured in head first.  Splitting her helmet and dislocating her shoulder, resulting in a one lap knockout, that earned a 3 day mandatory stay at the out of town trauma resort.

Leigh always did want a new 'matching' helmet, and lets just say, went to drastic measures to get one.  With the support of the greatest LBS, B+L, Leigh will be styling her new pink accented Specialized helmet once she gets back on the bike after 3 - 6 weeks recovery, while sporting the latest medical fashion garment, a burly black contraption, meant as a shoulder immobilizer.

To support Leigh in her right arm fashion endeavors, Alex is following suit for 6 weeks as well by wearing a different contraption model, protecting a broken elbow and cracked ribs, encountered during an early morning bowling incident out on the course.  Downed tape was however resurrected during that course inspection run. Full contact bowling led to being slightly shaken, and bike parts twisted and stirred, a sampling of Port Brewing's keg gave moral encouragement for the rest of the show to go on, halted by the need to comply with the 911.

The message here is that we are both doing rather well all things considered, learning to live left handed, and bummed not to be able to ride :-(  ...Ultimately we're amazed and awed by the wonderful outpouring of support, love, concern, and logistic efforts undertaken of our fellow Celo Pacific members and SoCalCross friends.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the care for us, through the warmth expressed in e-mails, messages, gorgeous flowers, cards, offered help, and mostly actual situational help the day of, and after...
We love you guys!

Undeterrred, no doubt, we'll both be back next season, and in the meantime, promoting ourselves as SoCalCross groupies and cheer leaders for the upcoming cyclocross races this season ;-)

Thank you again, Celo and SoCalCross friends!!
Lots of Love and Cheers,

Leigh and Alex
